State of the Dutch Data Centers 2019 - Digital Awareness is Near

The Dutch Data Center Association presents the report "State of the Dutch Data Centers 2019 - Digital Awareness Is Near" the largest annual survey of the Dutch data center sector. The research reflects the growth and developments that have taken place in the data center sector over the past 12 months. This most complete investigation into the Dutch data center market was conducted for the fifth time this year.

The report shows that the Netherlands has the largest data center hub in Europe, mainly due to Amsterdam. The Amsterdam market grew by a booming 20% in  MW in 2018, and with that, Amsterdam has gained the leading position, which formerly belonged to London.

The Dutch market also grew exponentially again in 2018: the total capacity in MW increased by 18%. The 189 Dutch colocation data centers together cover 369,000 m2 of data floor. The center of gravity remains in the Amsterdam region: around 72% of all data centers are situated here. Over the past 8 years, this region has experienced an average annual growth of no less than 18.5% in capacity.
