Na bijna 3 jaar neemt Jasper Lankhorst afscheid als Managing Director van Global Switch. Hij gaat bij Actis-Convergence Partners een nieuwe uitdaging aan als CEO van dit pan-Afrikaanse data center platform.
Met zijn vertrek bij Global Switch treedt Jasper ook terug als bestuurslid bij de DDA. Wij willen hem als DDA hartelijk danken voor zijn inzet in de afgelopen 2 jaar voor onze organisatie. Vooral alle gebeurtenissen rondom de Amsterdamse bouwpauze maakte dat het een drukke tijd is geweest voor het bestuur, waar Jasper een actieve bijdrage aan heeft geleverd.

Ex-Global Switch Managing Director to lead data centre platform expansion as Africa’s data demand accelerates
Actis, the global sustainable infrastructure investor, and Convergence Partners have appointed Jasper Lankhorst as the CEO of the group’s pan-African data centre platform. Jasper will be responsible for the expansion of data centres across the continent to meet Africa’s accelerating demand for data and digital infrastructure. The new appointment follows Actis’ wider strategy to capitalise on the growing demand for digital infrastructure across the globe.
With over 25 years of experience within the international data centre and internet infrastructure sector, Jasper will lead on expanding the platform’s current portfolio, which includes Rack Centre, the leading carrier neutral tier III data centre operator in Nigeria. The hyperscale-ready data centre is already highly connected with 50 carriers and is currently undergoing a 13MW expansion, which is due to be completed by the end of 2022. Jasper joins the platform from data centre operator Global Switch, where he oversaw the data centre campus expansion by a further 32,000 sq m of space in Amsterdam, one of the Tier 1 markets in Europe.

A quarter of our customers in Nigeria are international and require infrastructure in other African markets, starting with Kenya, and this cohort is growing. These customers value a unified service level across both markets.”
