Amsterdam, 15 June 2020 – Penta Infra (“Penta”) acquired DataCenter Fryslân (“DCF”), operating two high quality and well connected datacenter facilities in Leeuwarden, Friesland. The datacenters are the only independent colocation datacenters in the province of Friesland and well positioned between the Amsterdam Internet Exchange and the Groningen Internet Exchange. The acquisition fits well within Penta’s strategy to become a key player in the European hub and edge markets. The two sites have a combined current capacity of 450kW with further upgrade potential. The datacenters are connected by a private dark fibre network, offering clients ultra-high availability and redundancy.

Penta will operate the datacenters in close cooperation with DataDiensten Fryslân (“DDF”). DDF has provided IT infrastructure and services to local governments, healthcare and educational institutions and IT parties in the region for over 10 years. Penta will continue to operate the datacenters with a regional approach and a focus on sustainability, for example by increasing power usage efficiency through power generation and power saving initiatives.

This acquisition brings Penta’s datacenter total in the Netherlands to four and to eight in total. Penta expects strong growth in the datacenter edge markets and is well positioned as agile and independent player.
