The Datacenter Guide 2026 has been published. In this latest edition, the Dutch Data Center Association (DDA) brings together more operators and facilities than ever before, accounting for about 95% of the total data center capacity in the Netherlands. In doing so, the guide underscores the industry’s scale, maturity and strategic position.
Of the approximately 50 data center parties operating in the Netherlands, the majority have European origins: 37 organizations are from Europe, complemented by eight from the United States and four from the Asia-Pacific region. This mix reflects the international dynamics of the sector and shows how the Netherlands functions as a highly connected digital hub within Europe.
Practical overview of Dutch data center sector
In the Datacenter Guide 2026, data centers affiliated with the DDA present their services and vision. In doing so, the guide provides readers with a clear and up-to-date overview of the parties enabling the digital economy in the Netherlands. At the same time, the publication serves as a practical handbook and reference work for anyone involved in IT infrastructure and data center choices.
Netherlands as a digital hub
For years, the Netherlands has played a key role as a digital hub in Europe. With some 192 colocation and hyperscale data centers and a large number of enterprise environments, the foundation is solid. At the same time, the playing field is changing rapidly. The rise of artificial intelligence requires unprecedented computing power, scale and energy efficiency, making data centers an increasingly defining role in innovation and competitiveness.
Digital sovereignty is also emphatically on the agenda. Organizations and governments are seeking greater control over where data is stored and under what conditions it is managed. Data centers in the Netherlands and Europe play a crucial role in this as a reliable and transparent infrastructure.
Moreover, in a geopolitically less predictable world, there is growing recognition that digital infrastructure contributes to strategic security. Data centers make it possible to anchor services locally, spread risks and ensure continuity.
The Datacenter Guide 2026 provides not only an overview, but also a compass for policymakers, businesses and IT professionals seeking direction for their digital future.
